Our client: Seeking an individual to maintain a strong team to provide engineering services to the organization. Leading two departments, this position will assist development of electrical infrastructure of the organization, as well as provide stewardship over documentation pertaining to transmission and substation assets, system modeling and reporting.

Would you like to: 
  • Develop and manage transmission engineers
  • Ensure all operating substation and transmission lines meet codes and standards
  • Create and maintain a substation grounding analysis program
  • Develop substation materials and equipment procurement standards
  • Create capital improvement recommendations
  • Develop annual department budget
  • Manage plan reviews per local, state and federal requirements
  • Review current practice, implement best practices, establish performance indicators, hold subordinates accountable for performance
  • Manage divisional goals, review and evaluate staff performance
  • Implement and enforce bargaining unit contracts in consultation with the VP and HR
  • Serve as organizational representative in development projects with other agencies/utilities
  • Review and update professional engineer ethics and standards
  • Manage organizational land interests with government agencies as well as private landowners
  • Leverage and cultivate resources for station and line design
Ideally you have:
  • Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering required – Registered PE, State of Alaska required
  • Masters in Engineering Management or Business Administration preferred
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in engineering design, operation, construction, maintenance, planning, budgeting, capital improvement programming (including supervisory responsibility)
  • Experience in planning, design and construction of transmission and substation facilities
  • Union environment experience 
  • Knowledge of electric utility systems operations
  • Knowledge of Uniform System of Accounts, RUS specifications, OSHA
  • Knowledge of IEEE standards
  • Familiarity with GIS databases and software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
