Would you like to: 
  • Plan and coordinate recruitment, screening, selection, placement, training, performance management, safety, compensation and benefits, and separation of employees. 
  • Receive and process employment applications, payroll forms, and other personnel documents. 
  • Maintain employee job descriptions. 
  • Gather data to confirm accurate and complete job applications and other personnel information. Ensure that all employees receive an annual evaluation under corporate policies.
  • Complete recruitment screening and selection processes. 
  • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of current and archived personnel filing systems. 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality with personnel records and information.
  • Develop timely state and federal reports and related paperwork required of the corporation.
  • Coordinate student employment opportunities and programs to work with village youth.
  • Work with stakeholders to prepare documents, materials, and other items needed to assist with job fairs.
  • Research and coordinate training and workforce development opportunities for current employees and shareholders.
  • Interface with employees and the public regarding questions on personnel policies and procedures.
  • Respond to inquiries about employee references.
  • Assist the CEO and village General Manager in preparing reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Work with the corporation’s workforce development program to develop and implement strategies to increase the workforce of the Corporation’s shareholders.
  • Assist CEO and village General Manager in employee dispute resolution.
  • Travel to remote locations as required.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
 
Ideally you have: 
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent preferred
  • 3 years of experience in high-level personnel management or human resources may be substituted for a degree
  • 3 years of experience in a Native Alaskan or Tribal organization
  • Strong knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity of Alaska Native culture
  • Ability to travel six to ten times per year to remote Alaska village locations for up to four days 
  • Working knowledge of human resource laws and regulations
  • Administrative supervisory experience demonstrating forward advancement and experience in management and administration
  • Ability to read and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations, such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to supervisor, staff, and public questions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel administration and dispute resolution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good working knowledge of accounting and business practices
